Tuina Massage
at Inspirit…
Tuina (Tui Na) – Chinese Bodywork Massage is a hands-on oriental bodywork therapy which employs the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of “Qi” or energy through the meridians as it’s basic therapeutic principle.
Through the application of hand techniques to massage the soft tissue and acupressure to directly affect the flow of Qi, Tuina aims to create a more harmonious flow of energy through the collaterals, allowing the body to naturally heal itself. Kneading, rolling, pressing, brushing and rubbing may be used on different areas to open the body’s defensive qi and stimulate the energy in the muscles and channels.
Tuina’s methods to focus on specific problems as well as engage an overall therapeutic effect make it both an excellent alternative and extension of the Swedish-style massage.
What is involved in a typical session?
A typical session predominantly involves working on bare skin (although loose clothing is option) with the application of almond oil.
Towels are provided to keep the client warm during treatment and to prevent oil staining any undergarments.
The major focus is upon acupressure points, energy meridians, muscles and joints.
Sessions last from 30 minutes to 1 hour. The client usually feels relaxed but energised by the treatment.
